Susan Sontag, pensadora norte-americana, disse que fotografia é um “recorte, um fragmento da realidade” e; “o congelamento de um momento histórico”.
Yesterday (October 31), taking pictures of Al Gore in his Rally for Obama at the Omni Auditorium of BCC (Broward Community College) I had a sensation that I was taking pictures from defrosted images from eight years before, when Gore was running his own presidential campaign.
However, Gore made a great assembly to the students and people present at the auditorium.
He talked, without reading, for half hour, about geopolitics, economy, environment and the historical meaning of the Barack Obama campaign. A pure speech moved by rhetoric, thought and emotion.
I noticed some expressions and comments , mainly in older people, the sparkling brightness of the tears. Tears of frustration. The frustation of knowing that we are eight years under a terrible presidential government; and that we had the possibility of Gore’s government. A man that still incarnates the liberal-progressive-pacifist idealism of the North American culture.
Politics in fact, are possibilities.
